Brides!

What, Where, When

Keeping your mane sane on your wedding day!

Tips for choosing your wedding hairstyle! The most important accessory to the gown.

  • UP OR DOWN
    • If you are opting to wear your locks down, be aware that of the weather. The last thing you want is sweat or humidity weighing down your curls.
    • When wearing your hair down--minimal shine products should be used as well as a light hairspray. 90% of the brides i have styled have said that their fiance' requested that their hair look and feel soft (this isn't the 80's)!
    • Hands off! My #1 tip to brides wearing a down-style is to keep your fingers out of your hair (that includes you bridesmaids) The oil from your hands will put a real damper on your curls, waves, smooth style, or crimps? (maybe you're having an 80's themed wedding?)
    • Ballerina bun, chignon, low and loose, beauteous braid... Whichever way you are want your mane pinned up, remember to start with somewhat clean hair. Long ago, someone started a rumor among girls that dirty hair curls better. This is not further than the truth! I have decided that washing AND drying your hair the night before your wedding is ideal. The last thing you want to do is get your hair blow dried on your wedding day--think noise, and sweat. (Do you really want your hair to smell dirty for your wedding night? Ditto for the bridesmaids)
    • How will your up-do look with your veil or tiara? And what about pictures from all angles? Enough said.
    • Research! Have an idea of what you want. Cut out and clip pictures from the internet, magazines, your friends wedding pictures (with permission) Don't get obsessed with one exact way you want it though--your hair texture may be different than Taylor Swift's bouncy ringlets. Know your limitations.
  • BRIDES MAIDS
    • All of the above goes for you too!
    • Note to the bride- give guidelines to your maids but don't make them all look like twins either. We all have differant lengths, textures, and colors. What looks good on your blonde bestie may not look good on your curly haired confidant.
    • Note to the bridesmaids- if the bride ain't happy, ain't nobody happy. Remember to be a supportive, not sassy gal pal.

Hair Quality

Do I have to buy my hair from the recommended place?

  • Absolutely not. Do your research and buy your hair from wherever you choose.
  • Just remember to look for Remy hair only and they must be I-Tipped hair for the Micro-Lock technique/ or the Tape-In hair for tape technique (recommended only for those with very fine hair)
  • There are several websites out there that offer I-Tipped hair; shop around and find the most affordable one

FYI! You will be paying for this hair to be applied to your own hair. Please remember to purchase only Remy hair. Afterall, you are going to be wearing it for at least 3-4 months at a time (longer if taken care of properly) In my experience, cheaper hair does not hold up for that long, and the quality will show after you have washed and styled it several times on your own.

Websites I have found that sell I-tipped Remy hair:

Take care of your hair!

Care and Removal of your extensions

  • Always brush your hair at night before bed with an extension brush (the brand doesn't matter)
  • Shampoo as usual but with less friction, and if your conditioner is protein rich- keep it at the ends of your hair
  • Never go to sleep with wet hair- this will cause tangles that will require tugging on your extensions to remove
  • To remove tangles, start at the bottom of your hair and work your way up to the bonds
  • While being active, pull your hair up in a ponytail, and avoid chlorine or keep it minimal

You may use the same hair for up to a year if taken care of properly. For removal only, I charge $100 OR you can remove them yourself. There are multiple videos on Donna Bellas site or YouTube telling you exactly how to remove them.

Strand by strand Micro link extensions

Why choose Micro lock/ Micro link extensions?

After reviewing all the methods I preferred Micro link Extensions. Micro links can last up to 12 months with 3-4 months maintenance. By having you purchase your own hair from Donnabellahairextensions.com, I feel confident in the quality of the hair. I also use the links made to work with the I-tip hair strands. Silicone lined Micro links are made from aluminum and have silicone on the inside of each bead. These links make for tight application and minimum slippage and also make for painless removal without pulling on the natural hair.

At salons average pricing for strand by strand micro link extensions range from $1200 to $2000 in the Indianapolis area.

My prices are well below the industry average:

$150 for a partial application or a very fine hair application 100 strands or less (adding only fullness to your existing length, or adding highlights/lowlights)

$210 for a full head for normal to thick hair application 140-200+ strands (adding primarily length with fullness)

My prices are extremely competitive and I always include a cut and style. This is the most important step to making extensions look completely natural.

I highly recommend you purchase an extension brush from the website to help care for your extensions.

Extensions!! Where to start...

Are you ready to add length and or density to your hair?

First off- you need to purchase your hair.

After trying several methods of hair extension, I have had the most satisfaction using the I-Link hair system as well as the Tape-In hair technique (I recommend this for only those with very fine hair). You chose which hair system best suites you as well as the color best matched to your hair. If you have highlights or dimensional color, you may mix and match colors. The hair comes in 20 strand bundles, and a full head takes anywhere from 120-150 strands, so 6-8 bundles. It is better to have ordered too much hair than too little, so if you are not sure order an extra bundle.

Only order I-Tipped hair for the I-link application. 90% of my clients prefer this method over Tape-In unless you have very fine textured hair. I am more than happy to assist you in choosing which color best suits you, just contact me at 317-643-2341

As soon as your hair arrives, we will set up a appointment to apply your hair extensions. Yipee!

Hello Indy

Hello, my name is Amanda and I have been a licensed cosmetologist for 5 years. I trained in Las Vegas which also happens to be my hometown. Having worked in a high end salon on the Las Vegas strip for the first 3 years of my career, I have lots of experience doing bridal hair and makeup, as well as hair extensions.

I have been living in Indianapolis for 1 1/2 years and enjoyed working at a salon downtown for the last several months. I am now a full time mommy and part time hair stylist.
